The tree was removed from that site due it being damaged from possible tree rot. It has been few years now and absence of tree is quite noticeable. A replacement tree would not only improve the outlook of the Atkinson park but also provide well needed cover to the backside of homes, once it reaches its maturity. These trees are essential for the parks and serve as place of cover during the peak sunny hours of summer. I would encourage parks and recreation admins to look to add more trees.
